چکیده

The OpenFlow protocol allows production networking environments such as campus networks, metropolitan networks or R&D networks, to be used as experimental infrastructure hosting, future internet architectures, softwares and protocols, in isolation to the production traffic. During rollout, one practical problem arises with legacy switches that do not support the OpenFlow protocol and need to be replaced/upgraded or worked around by means of costly network re-engineering. This poster proposes a new OpenFlow datapath, which is able to interact with nonOpenFlow legacy equipment, creating a new approach to hybrid OpenFlow networks.

Software-Defined Networking: State of the Art and Research Challenges

Plug-and-play information technology (IT) infrastructure has been expanding very rapidly in recent years. With the advent of cloud computing, many ecosystem and business paradigms are encountering potential changes and may be able to eliminate their IT infrastructure maintenance processes. Real-time performance and high availability requirements have induced telecom networks to adopt the new co...

Programming Flows in Dense Mobile Environments: A Multi-user Diversity Perspective

The emergence of OpenFlow and Software Defined Networks brings new perspectives into how we design the next generation networks, where the number of base stations/access points as well as the devices per subscriber will be dramatically higher. In such dense environments, devices can communicate with each other directly and can attach to multiple base stations (or access points) for simultaneous...

ContentFlow: Mapping Content to Flows in Software Defined Networks

Information-Centric Networks place content as the narrow waist of the network architecture. This allows to route based upon the content name, and not based upon the locations of the content consumer and producer. However, current Internet architecture does not support content routing at the network layer. We present ContentFlow, an Information-Centric network architecture which supports content...

Exerting Fine-Grained Path Control over Legacy Switches in Hybrid Networks

Software-defined networking (SDN) provides fine-grained network control and monitoring that simplifies network management. Unfortunately, upgrading existing enterprise networks, comprised of numerous “legacy” switches, to SDN is often cost-prohibitive. We argue that it is possible to achieve most of the benefits of a fully deployed SDN at a fraction of the cost by strategically replacing only f...

Poisoning Network Visibility in Software-Defined Networks: New Attacks and Countermeasures

Software-Defined Networking (SDN) is a new networking paradigm that grants a controller and its applications an omnipotent power to have holistic network visibility and flexible network programmability, thus enabling new innovations in network protocols and applications. One of the core advantages of SDN is its logically centralized control plane to provide the entire network visibility, on whi...
